Department of Health of the Kaohsiung City Government announced today (September 18) the launch of the first self-developed online interactive health education riddles game “You’s Counterattack: Health Level Up!” designed by the department’s own colleagues. The game adopts an innovative immersive plot and guides citizens through different game levels of interactive riddles. Players will gain five important and relevant health concepts, i.e., “Vaping Hazard, The Greater Family Medicine Project, Metabolic Syndrome, Sporting Health, and Nutritional Health” in the game and elevate their health level. From now on until December 31 this year (2025), citizens will be eligible for the lucky draw upon completion of the game and related questionnaire, and get a chance to win nice gifts such as Chiikawa gift set, gift coupons, Bluetooth earphones, and mobile power bank.

To familiarize citizens with this new online health education riddles game, DOH held the game launch ceremony this morning at the city government’s Sihwei Administration Center. Deputy Mayor Lo Ta-sheng attended the ceremony on behalf of Mayor Chen Chi-mai, and changed into a “health guardian” to safeguard citizens’ health. DOH Director-general Huang Joh-jong, Youth Bureau Director Lin Kai-hsuan, and representatives of Kaohsiung City Medical Association, Kaohsiung City Dietitian Association, and Kaohsiung Pharmacists Association also attended the ceremony, each holding a key to unlock one of the five health concepts. They opened the treasure chest and took out the health gems together, inviting citizens to join the game and level up their health by clearing the game levels.

Deputy Mayor Lo pointed out in his speech that health is the most important asset of each citizen. As the society is aging, the city government will continue to promote healthy behaviors in innovative and diversified ways, hoping that health behaviors can be put into practice in citizens’ everyday life. This online game aims at upgrading and transforming traditional health education and promotion to an interesting interactive experience, said Director-general Huang, so that health education would come closer to people’s life. It is expected that citizens may acquire health concepts while having fun, and all may participate in making a smoke-free, healthy, and happy city.

The DOH online game “You’s Counterattack: Health Level Up!” is designed based on five important health concepts, i.e., “Vaping Hazard, The Greater Family Medicine Project, Metabolic Syndrome, Sporting Health, and Nutritional Health.” With immersive plot and interactive riddles, citizens are guided to win back their own health. The game script and plot design are all conceived by the DOH colleagues, who also act as actors and actresses for filming the five game level intro videos including “The Future Alarm, The Source of Vitality, The Smoking Muddle, The Youth Formula, and The Waistline Gatekeeper.” Health concepts are thus promoted by means of the interesting game design.

In order to bring this online game closer to the youth, DOH has specially invited the Youth Bureau Director Lin Kai-hsuan and Education Bureau Director-general Wu Li-sen to take part in the filming of the promotional videos together with students from Chung-Hwa School of Arts amidst their busy schedules. The two directors explain in a chill and lively manner that this is not just a game, but an interesting tool that helps people learn while having fun.
